Information about Tiger Pride Alumni Association

Totally separate organizations, both Tiger Pride Alumni Association, LTD (TPAA) and Tiger Alumni Center (TAC) share the common goal of service to current and past students and employees of Richland County Community Unit School District #1.

The Tiger Alumni Center is a website owned by founder Richard Ray Williams (Class of 1960) and operated by volunteers Garry Bowman (Class of 1964), Web Master; Nancy Rumsey (Class of 1966), In Memory Coordinator; Clarence “Smitty” Smith (Class of 1960), Lifetime Achievement Award Committee Member; and Judy Walker (Class of 1964), Faculty Coordinator and Lifetime Achievement Award Chair (resigned August 2016). TAC has over 1650 members as of April, 2015.  The purpose of TAC is to provide a social website for alumni and employees of RCCU#1 to communicate with each other and convey information deemed of interest to one or more members.

For two years, beginning in the fall of 2012, Richard Williams worked toward the goal of establishing a legal alumni organization with tax exempt status.  The Tiger Pride Alumni Association became official as of August 24, 2014.  Assisting Richard in successfully creating TPAA were Attorneys Tom Weber (Class of 1964) and Frank Wagner (Class of 1965).  Richard also had the help of TAC Administrators Nancy Rumsey, Judy Walker, Mary Cummings, and John Fritchey (Deceased).  Tiger Pride Alumni Association is a charity corporation with directors but no members.  Unlike TAC, TPAA is not a website for communication among alumni but is a fundraising site to provide scholarships for graduating seniors and to assist the Richland County Community Unit #1 employees in the education of students.   Please see “Purpose” under the heading “About” to read the complete purpose of TPAA.  (TAC members are not TPAA members.)
